Search Engine Optimization

Be wary of SEO "specialists" who claim to know secrets or who promise top-10 results.  The majority of "tricks" that these so-called specialists use could get your website blacklisted on many search engines and ultimately decrease traffic.  We at Transio are practitioners of the consistent and successful method of creating valuable content in a website to create traffic.  It's more work and takes more time than "tricks", but the long-term results speak for themselves.  Every top-10 website got there by following the same SEO methodology we use.

How SEO Really Works

Search Engine Optimization, or more accurately, the improvement of search engine ranking, consists of a simple process:

  1. Optimization.  Only the first step to improving ranking, optimization itself is also a very simple process.  It involves the fine-tuning of your website's content so that it is most legible by search engines and delivers your message with the most appropriate key phrases highlighted.

  2. Back-linking.  A simple, yet tedious process, generating back-links is by far the most effective way to increase a website's search-engine ranking, much like PR is the best way to generate public knowledge of your business.  The really interesting part about it, which most "specialists" won't tell you, is that generating back-links doesn't require any expertise.  In fact, it's a very basic task that's best handled by someone who's not an SEO expert.  Most SEO "specialists" will hire inexpensive resources to do this part of the job, but will charge top-dollar for the work.  We don't.  In fact, we don't even charge for the service.  Instead, we train your resources so they're able to promote your website in their idle time, allowing your company to save thousands of dollars by maximizing its marketing efficiency.

  3. URL Rewriting.  URL Rewriting is a programming trick using Apache's mod_rewirte or IIS ISAPI_Rewrite plugins to make your web server think that dynamically generated URLs are really static pages.  An example is this page: http://www.transio.com/search_engine_optimization .  The actual URL for this page is http://www.transio.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=85&Itemid=44 .  However, the software we're using masks the actual URL by linking to a rewrite of the page title (Search Engine Optimization), which is then interpreted by the server and loads the querystring page above.

This is a very important technology to use if you have a dynamic website, like an E-Commerce site or a CMS solution, because search-engines give heavy interpretation of the contents of a page based upon the URL used to load it.  All of the major top-ranked dynamic-content sites (e.g. Ebay.com and Wikipedia.com) now use URL Rewriting to maximize their SEO.
Interestingly, most SEO firms don't offer one or more of the services above.  Most will simply optimize your HTML and/or submit it to a "promotion" database, which could seriously hamper your SEO efforts by spamming your URL across the web.
